Audi performing oil change - weight ?

I own a 2000 a6 2.7T, with 28K miles. The previous owner always used synthetic oil.
I scheduled an Audi 8K interval maintenace appt. I told the service guy that I use full synthetic oil. He said I have two choices- first, use Audi's oil which is Mobil 1 0w40- or bring my own. I checked with the previous owner, and he said he always used Amsoil full synth 10w30- and said I could use 5w30 for winter.
What is the best weight, or does it matter?????

I'm using 5w30 in AZ... some go as light as 0w30 in colder climates.

I use Amsoil Series 2000 0-30W all the time and I spend 3 months in Florida every year.

I'd go with the Mobil1 0w40. It meet Audi specs and is readily available.

Can't say that about Amsoil.

I read somewhere that Amsoil got something that can hurt cats - that's why is not certified by MB

Mobil 1 15-50 here in souther Cal.

No oil loss between changes, no leaks, no noises, etc. Can't ask for better oil performance.
