Update on Tiptronic failure...and paging TeddyBGame!!!
I checked the magnet in the shifter, and it is intact in the rubber housing. However, I noticed this afternoon that my autodimming mirrors were not operating. Noticed also that the compass mirror was not operating as well. Seemed odd, checked the fuse (#31) and it was blown.
Checked the manual and this is the same fuse that runs the backup lights, cruise control, autodimming mirrors, data link connector for On Board Diagnostics, and automatic transmission.
So I replaced the fuse, turned the key on to see if the compass mirror operates, and it did not. Checked the fuse, blown again.
Any ideas on what is causing this short? I did the Passport Hardwire late last week, but tapped power into the heated mirror fuse (#9), nothing to do with the autodim. Also, the Passport is working just fine.
Any other thoughts??? If I pull the dash again, what should I look for down there?
On a side note, I noticed in a search for "Fuse 31" that TeddyBGame had the same issue last year. Ted, what was the resolution of your tiptronic issue???

I used a blade style fuse tap on #31 (I think) and it pushed the connector back inside the fuse box. Because of this...my tiptronic would engage...nor would my reverse lights come on.
At some point, I need to pull off the back of my fusebox panel and push it back into place.
Never again...will I use those fuse taps!!!!! I was so pissed off.
