in the market for an A6...
Hey everyone, I currently drive a 99.5 A4 1.8tqms. The wife is wanting to get rid of her Z3 and pick up something with 4 doors, leather, automatic, and room for a baby seat (one day).
I don't know too much about the A6's. Are their certain years that I want to look for? How about options? Pretty similar to the A4 I'm assuming?
What do you think about this car?
Any advice/comments would greatly be appreciated.

I like my 4.2........drove the 2.7T 2.8 & 3.0...the 4.2 was the one I liked best.....
had the get up and go I wanted....not as quick off the line as the turbos but I wanted that
V-8!!
You gotta drive em to see which one is right for you......

I am a former BMW owner, and the A6 is awesome. Get an '02 or newer
Do your research, but '02 is the best year for bang for the buck. Also, a lot of learned fixes were in the '02+. I would get a 3.0 for the wifer - it is still perky enough. The 4.2 is awesome, but the gas mileage can hurt, and same with the 2.7t. It is quite a change from the Z3 but a very nice upgrade. The A6 handles well - especially if you have the sports package.

I had a 2002 A4 3.0, nice ride, decent performance but I wanted more HP so I opted for the A6 2.7T..
The 4.2 is a sweet ride but if you get the mod bug there is limited performance upgrades. It all come down to what your long term goals are. I also own the allroad and have been happy with all my Audi's good luck. Oh yes, I would make sure it's a certified pre-owned you will get a decent warrenty, if needed.

Agreed on '02. Substantial changes from MY'01.
I bought my '02 wagon in June, have upgraded wheels/tires, installed HSport sway bars and Bilsteins. Love the car.
Make sure you get one with an extended warranty that covers control arms. My aftermarket warranty is already paid for!

Wouldn't really recommend the 2.8
esp. with quattro, there's just not enough power for the weight of the car.
However, if wifey isn't into drag racing (or if in fact you need to slow her down), it's a beautiful ride.
