Tire cupping, warranty issue?
I have a 99 2.8 that lives on the highway. 27,000 miles ago I put on a new pair of Continental TourContacts. I have been religious about rotating, alignments, balancing and proper inflation.
I do not corner hard, as the tires will prove by their outside wear, but the insides are cupping terribly.
Belle Tire said that all all-wheel drive cars, i.e. audi's, subaru's are just prone to it and there is nothing I can do except remove tire from rim every 5000 miles and switch direction. (cross rotate, I imagine would work as well)
The Continental REP said "our tires don't cup". So, I have been extremely vigalent with tire care and have to purchase a new set.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Larrs
But make sure that you don't have directional tires mounted in the wrong direction. I did that once on my Beemer, blamed the fairies, and paid for it in bad karma for a year.

Should I talk to somebody higher up at Continental?
I am not asking for a handout or for anything free. I was told and had expected that these tires with proper care would last about 60-70000 miles.
