few questoins...ABS, sch. maint., HIDs, etc [long]
-------------------------------------------------
Have an '01 A6 2.7t 6-spd man. 215/55/16
When driving on the freeway for about 45-60 min and then exiting, sitting at an offramp stop light/sign for a min or two, and then removing my foot from the brake causes what I suspect is the ABS pump kicking on. As soon as I take my foot off the brake (car is not even moving or for that matter sometimes not even in gear) this occurs. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this normal? Dealer says I have to 'recreate' problem for them, but I don't have an hour to joy ride with service tech. They insist on sensitive ABS and that i am hitting a bump or something, despite the fact that I am NOT EVEN MOVING when the pump kicks on. Any thoughts? Someone locally suggested perhaps a dirty sensor which could be another possibility?
Also, hit 55k...any recommended things to check/replace? Have a CPO warranty until 100k. Suggestions on some things to have inspected on car, e.g. trans, engine, control arms etc.? I'd like to locate any potenial problems before they arise. Belts? Any thing (maint.) to be done with turbos (w/ exception to warm up/cool down)? Am i looking at the cost of a new car to have this stuff done?
What oil do all you "experts" recommend? I don't want to start a long threaded debate here, just looking for something I can count on as I plan on owning this sucker for awhile. Anyone out there like Amsoil?
Oh yeah, on average, how often do the OEM HIDs usually last before needing replacement? What mileage usually suggests shock/strut replacements for these with the sport suspensions.
And finally: how do I tighten the damn rear-seats to fix what I think is causing the squekling rattle I have been goign insane with
?Thanks again guys (and girls). Hope this isn't too much at once.
