What could installing an in-attic HDTV antenna have to do with a broken windshield?

Well, if you are working in the attic above the garage, and you have your tools sitting on a poorly secured access panel cut into the drywall, putting down a cordless drill CAN make the panel break loose (4 screws ripped out) and drop (with tools and hardware) onto your unsuspecting car. AAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHhhhhh. If I could just perfect my time machine, I could go back in time and pull my car out of the garage before this happened.

Windshield took the brunt of it, which is fortunate. Hood has two dings, one sharp, one shallow. Neither looks too bad.

So, I've searched on windshields. Seems like a need to be vigilant on fitting (watch gaps) and make sure they know what to do with the rear view mirror.

What have people paid for a decent job?

if you have a full coverage just call insurance ;o) and you got new windshield

take it to HBL.......

...they use a decent company and if anything goes wrong then there is no question about who is responsible - the glass people or HBL.

It costs the same thing if you use your insurance. Your deductible is probably $100 and your rates will NOT increase because of a glass claim.

Do NOT use Glass America or any of the other zillion names they go by......

Hopefully, at least the antenna will work. My large in-attick UHF antenna does not work well

I have the square shooter HDTV antenna for local hi def channels. It's phenomenal! Yeah I know, OT

WARNING TO all AW people... The cooler falling from my garage rafters was ONE...

this makes TWO, and according to the most well proven of all folklore these things always happen in THREES... it sounds like between Potomac and i we've already broken the $1K mark in garage related "damage from above" in the past 30 days. i encourage all others to LOOK UP, TREAD CAREFULLY, AND PERHAPS even park in the driveway ;-}... it may be safer than parking in the garage. as for P2.7t i sympathize... nah, empathize, and can only hope that you have a speedy recovery. take care. rob.
