Default Hey crew, todays subject: "Flashing Brake Light"

Started car with two loud beeps and the parking brake light flashing a few times, then the Brake light shuts off.

Started the car for a second time and it did the same thing.

After STA's I read that perhaps my brake fluid is a bit low. Just drove the car 30 miles to get a new lamp and it seems fine.

Upon starting it up for a third time there was no brake light flashing nor was there any beeping but the "BRAKE" light does not briefly flash upon starting the car now, although it will still light up when the emergency brake is in use.

A few questions: First, is it common to get the beeping and flashing warning twice, and then go away, with the indicator light at startup alltogether? Second, will VAG diagnose the fluid levels? If it is a low fluid level warning would it be easier to DIY and get the correct fluid, if so, how much fluid do you suppose I should get (I understand to use only Audi sped fluid and I have used a brake bleeding system before) or should I just be bothered with the dealer and save some coin while losing time? Lastly, would it be wiser to bleed the entire system rather then add fluid and if so, how much fluid should I buy for that job? Its probably about time to do that anyway.

Upon searching the archives, I read the usual responses, but no one ever reported back to confirm these warnings and if the fluid levels fixed it.

I'm looking for the pro's answers on this, (please no one liners).

TIA

Default First you must ask a pro question.

A pro would simply check the brake fluid level.
Most amateurs don't understand the pro answer anyway...they look for instant pudding rather than a reasoned diagnostic tree.

Default could be a few things

First, check the brake fluid level. If it's low, top it off to the "max" line with DOT4 brake fluid. Next most likely culprit is a bad ABS sensor or brake pad worn down to the wear sensor. Next, I'd check the master cylinder for any leaks and make sure the wires to the fluid level sensor are firmly connected. And finally, the most expensive culprit could be the ABS controller. Have someone VAG the car and see what code is stored (if any).

Keep in mind that the brake fluid should be *completely flushed* every 2 years. Otherwise, you're just begging for trouble with your ABS controller.

Cheers,

Default Also, cold fluids might be a little low, but after engine bay warms up fluids expand and dont ..

activate sensors.. see if it happens first start in the AM..
