Might have to sell the A6 :(
My parents are freaking out and think that I have a 21k lemon time bomb on my hands and want me to sell the car ASAP (I paid for the car, insurance, gas, etc. myself). They think it is a good idea for me to get rid of it and buy and brand new Saturn ION with factory warranty or something similar, so that I know there will be nothing wrong with it.
They are totally against me getting another Audi because they think it is way to much to maintain, though I doubt I will be paying $800 in repairs every month, or even every year if I keep my A6. They fear that I will.
Here are my options:
1) Sell the A6, buy a 2004/2005 leftover new GTI (my price range is now around 16-17k)
2) (preferred option) Sell the A6, try to find a 2002 A4 with extended warranty within my price range, or..
3) Keep my car, pay for the repairs, hope for the best.
I greatly appreciate your advice and input. TIA!
I'm sure there are A6 out there that are truly maintenance free but I was blessed with the opposite.. At the end I realized because of this well known issues with Audi the resale value is really-really low.
I bit the bullet and sold it.. :-( I miss it but I got a brand new CTS that kick *** with 4 year bumper-bumper warranty (full term of lease)
Decide based on what you want, that way either you'll be in peace with yourself...

Then there is the future. No one can predict that. Me, I need a reliable car and that is why I have my Audi! It just goes and goes while giving me great driver satisfaction.
If my Audi was to get to the point where it needed to be at the dealer and not on the road I'd get rid of it also.
A new car should be more reliable but not cheaper than a used one - of the same make and quality.
So in the beginning I decided to go for it. fix everything that came along. arms,schocks,belts,...
after 6 months I got sick of paying every month.
Dead end , money pit,..
Sold it, got an A6 , saved me money already

If u decide to fix it , I really hope U are lucky
