Brake fluid change with ESP
I am thinking of doing this myself. I have a 2000 4.2 with ESP (no jokes please). Bentley says to run the ESP pump using a Vagcom prior to bleeding. Just wanted to check - what does everyone else do on this board that have ESP systems. Is this necessary or can you just bleed the brakes normally or do I just take it to the stealer. By the way I did read read Paul W's fine tech article but there is no mention of ESP.

I never cycle the ABS pump with VAG-COM when changing.
There is a page on the Ross-Tech VAG-COM site that says the only time you need to cycle the ABS pump is if you get air in the system.
If you don't screw up and let the brake reservoir run dry, then you should not have to cycle the pump.
