Altima at 110: wtf?
So I'm out early on the 101 this morning, 5:30 and dark with hardly anyone about. Minding my own biz at about 75 in the #1 lane and here's a fella hanging in my blind spot on the right. I let him go a car-length ahead and it's a previous-model Altima, the tame-looking one. So now I'm going a little slower than I want to and he's just there. I punch it to 85 to create space and pull ahead a bit, but damn if he's not right in my blind spot again. So I crank it a little and he's still on my corner. OK says I, outta here, and punch it, expecting him to be receding. I pass a car in his lane, he's in behind me and close and we're at 95 and climbing. Someone with commonsense would have pulled over and let him go, but hey, I'm an idiot sometimes. The road's clear so I floor it. He's with me to 110 - 115 and I finally was pulling away (slowly) at 120 when I decided insanity only has a short window, and dropped over a lane and slowed to 80. He dropped over two lanes, passed, and we cruised until I exited a few miles later.
This normal for a 1999-ish no-bling Altima? My 2.7 hauls ***, but I have to say this Nissan did too. And no, I don't normally drive like that..
