HVAC lights go bright/dim,tach drops to zero,ESP&CE light come on -partIX inst cluster replaced
upon completion of the work, I look at the work invoice and the description/reason why it was replaced was due to customer complaining that pixels/lines are not working on original instrument cluster. Audi of America good will replacing at 50%. I don't know about you, but who the hell said anything about that?!!! I had them change the description to instrument cluster lights illuminate intermittantly, HVAC digital temperature display surges brightly/dim when problem occurs.
I left a message on Friday for the dealership, and again today. No return call. I'm assuming they do not want to get in the middle and are in contact with AOA. I'll do the same right now.
I knew it wasn't the instrument cluster. If it was, then why would I hear a strange engine compartment noise while simultaneously having the HVAC digital readout surge in brightness? Yup, it's electrical and I am going to demand my money back and an investigation into the issue. Especially for the following reason:
while the problem occured, the cruise control disengaged. When I hit resume, the car sped up past the "resume" speed and continued to increase. AOA, please just help me fix the car. I love it and only want it fixed, nothing more!

I also keep hearing a strange engine compartment noise while this is happening. Like a compressor type noise associated with a large current draw? Possibly the alternator or something? I have no idea, but I have the video to assist in the diagnosis.
My guess is that it has not been driven in the rain nor washed in months. Dealership washed it and the next day I had to spray some dust off the car with water. So, intermittant electrical problem, water, hmmmm? Plausible theory I think.
Either way, it might help "replicate" the issue, although it will not capture those pesky little noises under the hood.
All sorts of weird things happen.
But if you know how to read the wiring diagrams, you should be able to find it.
Or it could be the alternator frying and failing high, which is a very rare occurance.
Either way, I agree that this is either a bad ground path, or a frayed wire somewhere. It's just a matter of time before it manifests itself.
