2002 a6 m6 spd sport package w/ bbs wheels purchase story (long, pics)
Tuesday came and I gave a call at around 9:30.
Ring ring, oeThis is Anthony” I here on the other line.
Hi Anthony this is Ian I called the dealership a few weeks ago looking for a (see car described above). Yada yada, and he says he is down in NJ right now looking at audiTMs in a lot that are going on the block that day. He says he has a 2002 with all the options I want plus the sport suspension with 52k miles. Well hell, thatTMs what I am looking for so I tell him to put a bid in for me and I will make good on the deal if it goes for the right price.
So I give him a call back later at around 4 and I find that he has bought the car, but that the steering is oeheavy” and that he doesnTMt know if it is because of the steering rack, or the power steering fluid or what the deal is. Basicly I feel like I am getting the run around and tell Elliot to either buy the car or donTMt buy the car (it was still in arbitration, a fancy auction term for oehe could still not actually pay for it”) and to call me back later in the day with what he decided to do. I was sick of his indecision on the car.
Well I get a call back 30 minutes later saying that he bought the car and that I should come down the following Friday to settle up and sign the papers. Damn, I guess when he does move it moves fast.
The unique thing about this whole sale, is that I never once saw the car or drove the car or even had a picture before I had gotten the insurance settled, borrowed the money I needed and walked in the door with check and insurance proof in hand ready to buy. My girlfriend thought I was out of my mind, and I guess I really was, but hey…like I told her, sometimes you just gotta take some risks. So with a check for the full amount of 18,500 I walked in to the dealership 8 days later (I was delayed on business) and bought the car sight unseen. Dealership pulls the car around and ElliotTMs father Ed who runs the indy shop hands me the keys and I take it for a drive.
WOW! Steering is fine, car accelerates just like I had hoped it would, clutch is clean and shifting is smooth as silk. The seats are soft yet very firm on lateral movement, just the way I like it. The smile on my face is difficult to wipe off.
So, I go back into the dealership and pay the extra 50$ to get it registered by the dealership in MA and walk back out the door.
It is now the following Friday, and I am on an airplane recording my experience and all I can think about is that it has been 6 full days of waiting and I almost canTMt stand it anymore! And to top it all off, since I have just purchased my second set of four rings, (previouse car is a pearl white 94 100cs Quattro manual 5 speed with a6 Winecup wheels) my girlfriend is thoroughly complaining that she has zero rings and my car has four! (yes that is stolen from another AW member but damn what a good quote!)
After reading so many great experiences, just thought I would through mine on the forum and let everyone take gander and add their .02 to the story and how it might relate to their experience trying to find such an elusive car with the right options and the right price.

ps. I am migrating over from the c4 forum with a 100cs quattro, currently on audifans for sale.<ul><li><a href="http://www.putfile.com/ianbennett">http://www.putfile.com/ianbennett</a</li></ul>
