Default Tranny question... Letting off the throttle when shifting... Good, bad, or indifferent?

(Obviously on the Tiptronic) I have a habit of letting off the throttle to induce the transmission to shift. It may sound weird, but it a good example is when you floor it, but you don't necessarily want to rap out the motor to the redline.

So my question is, could this be hard on the transmission? I noticed at higher RPMs it seems to shift a little funny when doing this... It almost feel like it really cuts the power, then waits a couple seconds to apply full output again. At first I thought it would be better for the transmission, as it wouldn't be shifting under full HP, but now I'm starting to wonder it's not such a good idea.

Any thoughts?

Default I use this same method of shifting in tip mode. I find it speeds up the shifts as well as

reducing wear internally by not having the tranny under load during shifts. The tiptronic works in a way such as that in order to execute shifts, the tcu tells the ecu to retard the engine timing fully when the command to shift is given thus reducing the power in order to safely complete the shift. After the shift has occurred, the tcu tells the ecu to go ahead and resume the timing it had prior to shifting. This whole procedure can take a few seconds sometimes and in the meantime, the clutch is just slipping away causing heat and thus wear.. I find that modulating the throttle just after the shift commnd is given speeds up the whole process by letting it occurr while there is less load on the tranny thus permitting it to happen faster and not having to wait for the timing to advance from full retard. Its not a huge difference, but I first figured this out in my 4.2 and now with the RS6, it works even better.. Generally speaking, letting the tranny shift under load will cxause more wear internally than letting it shift with no load.. IMHO of course..

Default give me a call sometime.. we'll bump up the idle torque for you a bit

that'll help with your shifting and get rid of that speed limiter.

APR ECU got rid of the speed limiter... What is this about the idle torque?

Default as Hy Octane wrote... the car pulls back "power/timing" in between

shifts... we can reverse that.. so the car shifts a bit quicker and power isn't held back.
