Loss of Power for a split second....

See if you can figure this out. Lately I started to notice that especially on the 4th or 5th gear, at around 3-4k rpm, my car loss power to a split second...it feels more like the loss of power during shifting...and i am sure that the car was not shifting..it only last maybe for 1/2 second or even less...but i can definately feel the hesitation of the engine...any idea what's going on????

That is common as a MAF starts to go south, it will not generate a DTC or A CEL for a while

but then will degrade to the point where you will get codes and a check engine light. Start sanning your car. JIM

I had the same problem recently. Under heavy acceleration the engine would ..

just quit for a fraction of a second, then pick right up where it left off. It was so abrupt, I would actually lunge forward in my seat. The CEL came on about 20 min. after the event. This happened 2 other times in the span of a month, for no apparent reason, except it was under heavy acceleration. Turned out the MAF was shot (it actually had been clogged up by a rather old air filter that literally was disintegrating, blowing shards of element into the intake. I guess I shoulda swapped filters before 105,000 miles.....)

Sounds like your case is the same as mine, so an easy fix is in your future. Good luck!
