Rough Idle / Hesitation

Rough Idle / Hesitation
My 2003 A6 3.0Q (with 94,000 miles on it) has developed a rough idle as well as a hesitation when accelerating from a complete stop. Back when I had a Volvo 240 I had to replace motor mounts when the engine started idling too rough, is that the same thing with the A6?
The hesitation is just for a split second, from the moment I take my foot off the brake and put it on the gas it takes about .5 of a second to realize it pressed the gas and usually feels like it fumbles around for a split second. It does it just enough to make me think twice about pulling in front of oncoming traffic..
Any suggestions on either?

yeah.. check engine is on but it's an "efficiency" code in one of the cat converters..
last time someone hooked up a VAG to it, which has been a few months.. guess it could be something new. Even when the light is off it still did these things though...
and it had the 80k service done where they replaced the spark plugs, so those are hopefully good.
