anyone familiar with Pirelli P-zero Nero summer tires?

anyone familiar with Pirelli P-zero Nero summer tires?
a friend of mine just offered me 4 P-zero nero 225/55/R16 tires for $90. he never got to use them because he sold the car they were for and he doesnt want them sitting in his gargage. i told him i'd buy them... good idea? i know stocks are 215/55's, will 225/55's affect my speed-o much ? they go for about twice what he offered me... EACH! so i know im getting a deal but should i use them? ive read reviews saying good things, any personal input? TIA

I had them on my 4.2 on 17" forged wheels.
I personally loved them. The grip was unbelievable and the ride was great. I now went to Michellin pilot sport II's and am not that impressed. Good tire but just not waht I was used to. The Pirelli will only give you 10k of great fun where the michellin will probably go 20k but damn that 10k is a blast. I want to pick up the RS6 9 spokes and put Pirelli's on them for the summer as soon as cash allows.

Great tire, not very long lasting...
as far as the size, it will be slightly larger rolling diameter, but you should be within tolerance. The <a href="http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html">tire size calculator</a> estimates 1.7% variance in your speedo, which should be okay.

Had them before the SP9000's. Super sticky, no mileage, lots of tramlining.
It was fun while it lasted. The Nero's were not as good in the rain as the SP's. For the price, I'd say go for it!

I run the P-zero Neros, and they're awesome, to say the least...
they really improved the ride of my car too. i have over 10,000 miles on mine with a little under 1/2 tread left... so i'm just expecting to get about 15-18 out of them.... i'll buy them again, thats for sure....

2.7T_RT Interesting You mention tramlining....
When I bought my car it had Pirelli P-Zero Asimetrico's on on 17" Pie Plates. It was so bad that I had the suspension checked out and all was good? Upgraded at the begining of the year to RS6 19"'s these are fitted with P-Zero Rosso's... Guess what, tramlining gone!
Didn't like those Asimetrico's anyway, the outside edge has a fine tread depth and wears before the rest of the tyre, leaving a bold area which the cops in the UK don't like much!!

I only noticed it on some newer concrete highways here that were heavily grooved in the direction
of travel.
Aren't they called Bobbies over on that side of the pond? :-)
