Happens on just about every A6. STFA to find exacts, but I think it is about $600.

Audisean has a great write-up on how to replace. Check Stoney's.

Default See my sig

Last I heard, Clairparts.com has changed their price and I think the final cost to DIY is something close to $600.

Default I posted up before but, $416.99 plus $350 core deposit. Then you need to program it.

I emailed the people at autopartsnationwide.com about ordering a new cluster. This is their reply:

"To order this, We need your VIN number.
This is an exchange part. Your cost for the part is $416.99 plus core deposit $350.00 and shipping $25.00. As soon as you return the old unit in the original box, we will refund you the core deposit. You still have to go to an Audi Dealer or an audi approved garage who has the special tool (VAS 5052) to install this cluster.
To transfer the data from your old cluster, you need this tool. Without this new cluster won't work.
Please let us know."

Default Good price, but you don't have to take it to the dealer

VAG-COM works just as well.

Default Yeah, but if the car has Immobilizer, looks like the DEALER has to have the car...

The SKC is required to recode the new cluster, and you CANNOT get this info frmo the dealer anymore. The car has to be at the dealer...

From Ross Tech's site about coding:

"Recently, VW/Audi dealerships have switched to the new GEKO system, whereby their factory scan tools dial up the factory while connected to a car. Under this system, the technician no longer sees the SKC at all and you will need to bring your vehicle into the dealer to have Immobilizer work performed. VAG-COM does not interact with the GEKO system."
