Radar Dectector
Hey i am looking to put a Radar Dectector in my car before i get some expensive tickets but i want to hook it up to the battery instead of the cigarette lighter. Anyone one have a DIY to hook it up to the battery without drilling any holes if possible.

I tapped into the wire in the sunroof control area for my 8500

I have a 2000 with the 8500 x50 red....
(word of advice save your money and buy the red not the blue...the blue just costs more because of the blue color of the leds....)

has saved me a number amount of times...(including this morning)
There is already a hole with a rubber gourmet in place waiting to be used, on the driver's side. From the engine compartment it looks like a little rubber circle with a nipple on it. You can see where the hole comes in by sticking a long screw driver through it and looking on the inside to see exactly where it comes through. I ran some power wire through there, worked like a charm.
Escort makes a hardwire kit you can order directly through them for like $30 or so...
I would not put it below your mirror, because, they are designed to be placed right above your windshield wipers. The escort manual says so and so does "radar roy" (he kind of bothers me...)
