Alternative to 235-50-16s (for 16 x 8 x 35mm wheels)
problem is, I find very few 235/50-16s available. It seems to be a dying size.
So out came the calculator. Good laternatives seem to be (all calculations relative to stock 255/40-17):
255/45-16 (0% difference in OD and radius)
-- they dont seem to exist
245-50-16 (2% difference in OD; +0.3" radius/center of gravity)
-- widely available and cheap, btu I wopuld prefer not to raise the car by 0.3"
For the record, all fit, and I run 225/55-16 M3s in the winter (+3% OD; +0.4" radius). For snows, its fine, maybe even preferable to get some added clearance.
Opinions? Sources of W/Y/Z rated 235-50-16s?
What do all the A6 4.2 folks do?
