Default Tranny Upgrades...

I see much conversation about a tranny upgrade, and even how a chip can compromise the life of the turbo. At what point (HP and Tourque output) do I need to worry about the tranny and or the Turbos? Or is this not even an issue with manual transmissions? THe stock 2.7t seems alittle sluggish pulling the A6 body around, I dont want to compromise the life of the car, especially expensive parts like the turbo, but like all of you here, I like to "drive" my car. Sorry if my questions are stupid. Thanks very much to everyone who offers advice!

They are the same BBS wheels that come wiht the sport package for that year, 2002. Except, somewhere along the line, I think I got lucky. Most of the ones I looked at(almost 10) that had the sport package, had these exact wheels, but they were 17's. There are 18's. I have only seen these wheels on a black 2.7t driven by some lady that def had no idea what her machine was capable of...I think its the BBS RX II

Default Chipping will definately reduce the life of the turbos....

The K03's are already working at their limits when chipped so it's normal for them to go faster. A good route is to go with K04s but it's more expensive
I have 83k now and got GIAC X at 75k. Turbos (K03s) still running strong but god knows for how long. I don't drive my car too aggresively though...i just want the extra power reserve.

Default If you are a manual, you have no worries about the tranny. As far as chipping the

motor, you can run the GIAC X chip, or the equivalent, rather safely. Now this doesn't mean you can go beat the crap out of your car. If you chip you should upgrade your TBB and DVs. It's usually one of these items that cause turbo failure. If they fail the turbos will over spin and the Turbo lady will visit you.
Good luck, the dark side is strong!

Thanks alot for those pics and explanation. I appreciate it. So I am guessing that when I do chip the engine, it would be wise to replace the Throttle body boot and the Diverter Valves...? Does this increase Turbo Life?
