Try again - What are 4.2 owners replacing their 235/50-16s with?
The most logical replacement size, 255/45-16 does nto seem to exist.
245/50-16 is 0.3" higher (radius)
Earlier I was pointed to the wheel adn tire forum. While I appreciate the input, i'm not interested in general techical education - i know the facts - I'm looking for specific experience from C5 A6 4.2 owners who MUST be facing this problem.
Any advice / experience? What are you all doing?
Thanks,
Grant
You can paly around with different sizes on the tire size calculator, but make sure you never go more than 2% variance from your stock size. The 235/50/16 vs. 245/50/16 results in a 1.6" variance, a slightly larger rolling diameter, but you should be okay. It is a wider tread, and a slightly higher sidewall.
Good luck!!!
235/50-16 (one lousy choice)
245/50-16 (+0.3" radius - what do people feel with this height increase?
255/45-16 - ideal but non-existent
- other ideas --- on the stock wheels?

And yep, I'm not looking to throw money at wheels.
I see zillions of A6 4.2s out there with 16s. Dont they replace tires?
