Default Nos kit to cool the intercooler on my KO4?

I take my A4 down the 1320 quite often and I see turbo cars spray the intercooler down with Nos before their runs to cool intake temps. I have the opportunity to pick up a used Nos kit for $250. I am thinking about installing the kit with a splitter to utilize two nozzels to spray the intercooler. Very easy install but do you think the cost is worth the return? I race in Texas and NM so the outside temps are always high. I have seen claims from Nitrous Express that cite gains of up to 35 hp at the real wheels with their CO2 kits. I run a KO4 kit now, which could yield up to a 35 HP increase. What do you guys think?

Default I have no clue if it would help, but what times have you been running with a k04?

check the vwvortex technical forums, i think someone dynoed a before and after w/ and w/o n20 on the intercooler.

Default don't install it...just blast your ic before the run.

it just cools the air temp real fast, and will give you maybe a tenth of a sec down the stretch.

nos isn't exactly cheap.

Default my thoughts....

1. it's definatly safe
2. i've done this on a few of my past cars running the stretch, or just on the track during hot days.
3. it's main purpose is to cool the ic core, and reduce intake temp.
4. as a anology it's like taking one of those air duster things, turning it upside down and spraying stuff with it. if you've ever done this (who hasn't?) you know that it freezes stuff for a breif second or two. This is what spraying nos on the ic will do. however nos will evaporate quickly, taking away with it the heat of the air temp.

ok i'm starting to ramble, the main reason why i told you not to install it using nozzles is because your trying to use it as a ic mister. the NOS will not work like that. if you want a mister you need to spray water, or a alcohol mixture, not n2o. It will only work well if you just turn the valve open and spray your ic like a fire extinguisher.

just my $.02

btw. i've used this on my turbo mr2, a friend's turbo'd civic, and a friend's turbo'd 325 (all with FMIC except for the mr2)
