Is a slight fast ticking noise normal from the engine?

Is a slight fast ticking noise normal from the engine?

I can only hear it when the hood is open and I'm standing outside the car. No CEL or anything, I'm just wondering.

Did you check your engine oil levels?

Yeah, fine. FWIW, I've noticed it since I took delivery of the car. Prolly just normal noise.

***i had the same thing, its the fan belt, just lather it with some wd40 and you are set!

if it ticks at the rate of a clock (approx- slightly faster). It's your alternator that's normal.
