Default For those of you with PSS9's on an S6 or 4.2....

My set is adjusted for about 1/2"-3/4" between the top of the tire and the fender lip. To get this ride height, the lower spring supports are almost all the way up to the top of the threaded portion of the strut tube. There's not much more room to raise the car, and I'm reaching full compression of the spring over big bumps in the road, resulting in a pretty loud bang when the suspension hits its limit (not sure what is hitting what when the strut compresses to its limit, but its loud). I'm concerned that the springs don't seem long enough to allow the amount of travel (and adjustment range) that I would expect.

What experience do others have with this setup?

Thanks.

Might need higher weight springs..either that or dampen them up? Regardless, doesn't sound good.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but for sure something isn't right.

Here is a pic. of my car with the pss9's

Default Crank in some more compression damping

sounds like it is set far too low. PSS9's are adjustable compression and rebound, so just play around with it. I don't think stiffer springs would be a good idea.

Default Well, I dont, but hee goes anyway

Something in your questions suggested that perch height affects spring travel. It doesnt. Teh travel is the same regardless, only the overall height is impacted.

It sounds, to me, like you have too little travel (which is a fixed design spec of the pss9 system) for the spring rate - which causes it to go to full compression. Which is bad for a variety of reasons that I hope dont require explanation.

More damping will reduce excursion. But it sounds to me like too little spring.

Default No, I didn't mean to suggest travel was compromised by perch height.

Unfortunately, if I increase the damping, the ride gets even more rough and uncomfortable than it is, so I want to stay away from that... I just feel like the springs are too short.

I'm going to talk to the company that sold them to me and see what they think.

Default I don't want stiffer springs, I want longer springs so the lower spring perch sits in the middle...

of the threaded part of the strut tube.

Could the noise be coil binding? Maybe you have the wrong spring.

Default I'm definitely leaning toward the springs being wrong. They just look too small compared...

with the stock springs. I'm going to call the distributor that sold them to me and ask what's up.
