If you code tranny to sport-mode, and then add the basic chip upgrade to 318HP
Thanks in advance for your input..
btw the tip recode makes your pedal response more aggressive and sporty in both auto and tiptronic mode...00032 is the code.
glad we have another racing green machine with us!
IIRC, we have technically two ECU's built into our systems

i had my OEM audi ECU flashed (not replaced) to a GIAC 'firmware', and the other tiptronic ECU flashed also to the GIAC TIP 'firmware'. you may have tuners do this, or you can simply purchase and hot swap with a ECU that has already been flashed from its stock programming. Though i'm not sure if it involves any soldering in the process (most likely yes)
expect to pay $500(x2) for each flash + 100$ installation charge
= 1,100$ or so...
(best buck i've spent in years)
(unless you get the discount and done in person at waterfest this weekend)
The GIAC tip chip noticeably increases the speed of up and down shifts when in Tip mode. There is still a delay from the time you move the shifter (or push the button) and the time the tranny shifts, but it is faster with the Tip chip. IMO, it is well worth the investment.
Note that O.CT also has a Tip chip. However, their Tip chip is very different from the GIAC Tip chip. As I understand from talking with Strat and Marcus at O.CT, the stock TCU limits how much torque the ECU will allow the motor to develop. The O.CT Tip chip (and the GIAC) eliminate this safeguard. The O.CT Tip chip does not increase the speed of shifts. Marcus was working on this, but don't know if he ever finished development.
I've got no idea what the Dahlback Tip chip does.

Sigh, still no fix for the dreaded BTDL...
