Saturday Poll - Extend a warranty or not.
2004 A6 2.7L s-Line
- I drive 7,000 miles per year.-
- I don't race it on the weekends.
- I plan on giving it to my daughter when she turns 16 (10 yrs from now).
- 43K miles on it currently.
Any opinions are appreciated!

so far I have won, owned car for 2+ years, had oppty to buy a $2.5K 2yr warranty when I purchased at 37K (48K now), repairs todate have been well under that (lucky?). That said guys who have lost the tip have been very happy.
Its the typical insurance risk/reward vs cost equation....

From my experience with a MY00 2.7T, it's well worth it.
The warranty company has paid more than double what I paid for the warranty.
Most of my problems happened around 70k to 90k. Things like radiator leak, instrument cluster, control arms, CV boot, O2 sensor. I'm now @113k mi & out of warranty.
A lot of people here believe the earlier 2.7Ts have more problems. So an 04 might be better. That said, most 04s are not at the kind of mileage that these failures started to pop-up.
But it all depends on how much is the warranty, what it covers & how long you wanted to keep the car. There's always a tradeoff.

get an extended warranty before your car hits 75K at click4warranty.com and get a 4yr/48k contract y
ou'll need it...by then from my experiences no problems from 50k to 75k but as soon as 75k hit all the problems started to arise...
