symphony stereo swap from 02 to 00?

Hi folks,

I am swapping out my current Symphony, since I keep getting an ERR1 from th CD, for one out of a 2002 A6. I was wondering if there are any issues with such a swap and if it will fit with no problems. I just want to be certain that the 02 symphony will work with a 00 car.

not impossible, but not plug-n-play...

Looks like a lot of work....and I don't have a vag-com either for the reprogramming of the system.

well, you could always find someone local with VAG COM to help you...

...and it looks like a lot of work (ignore all the other component install stuff and just focus on the radio conversion). When broken down into the seperate steps (NSX_JR does a nice job of detailing each step), they are not overly complicated.

However, if you are uncomfortable with doing stuff to your car, either find an experienced person locally to help you, or find another Symphony I radio (which would be the easiest solution).

I'll review the PDF again, and see what additional supplies I need. I want to see if it's worth swapping out the stereo vs. a Ipod addition. Ultimately, I just want to play my own music on the my stereo, and the Ipod adpater insall may do the trick.
