Default 2000 Audi A6 2.7T for $9,000

So I'm planning on purchasing the above stated vehicle, but I'm not sure if it's a very good deal. It's got about 92,000 miles on it. With your guys experience, will it be a very reliable car? Do the turbos randomly blow apart after 100,000 miles? Any info would be great.

Default Randomly blow? No. But the more time/miles a car has, the greater the chance of anything and

everything blowing. Machines do wear out.

The service record is paramount. And remember the old adage that you get what you pay for! Do your homework both on the model, and the specific car. $100 inspection at a reputable independent Audi specialist is always well worth it.

For what its worth, reports of turbos failures seem pretty rare here. The orig turbo on my '84 M/B 300D was still going at 400K+ miles, but turbos are a lot more complicated now.

Default recently bought 99 A6 w/85K miles for $8100 in SoCal

But here is what I spent after....

$400 for 4 new tires
$950 for TB service including thermostat, tensioner, etc.
$350 for left and right cv boot
$300 for left axle replacement

So my original $8100 car is now over $10,000.

No matter how detailed you look at the car, something will come up after you take possession. A really strange phenomena. I'll call it the Audi Law.

Hence, be prepared to spend some $$$ after you purchase the car. Probably $1500 to $2000. But at least you know that the work is done. Also, find yourself a good trustworthy independent repair shop if you are not a DIY.

Default I think it applies to any used car. I always ended up spending at least $1000 shortly after

buying a used car.

At the dealership we expected much the same on trade ins too.
