Default really not too impressed with H&R coilovers in the 4.2.......

first off they are way too soft. honestly they feel no better than my factory sport suspension. im not looking for anything super firm but at least a little sporty. ive had FK, bilstein, tein, and koni coilovers before in different cars and these H&Rs are nowhere as close to as sporty as they were. i was looking for something a little stiffer. my friends stock 05 S4 rides stiffer than my car. thats the ride i was looking for.

second H&R makes their coilovers with the same length shock absorbers as the factory shocks. a coilover shock should be at least shorter than the original to allow for lowering, after all thats why you're buying an expensive coilover system. the reason i bought coilovers is so i can lower with no fear of blowing out the shocks. if i knew it was like this i would've just put drop springs with the factory setup and it probably would have been the exact same thing.

now im thinking about getting rid of them. if i get a good offer on them i will sell if there is a coilover out there for this car that fits the description i want. i just payed almost $1400 for these things so i figure it doesnt even have 200 miles on them yet so i can do $1100 shipped. i think that is fair

Default I'm surprised you find them too soft, mine seem quite firm.

Secondly, at full height, they're 1" lower than stock. So drop them another 2 inches, they'll be very, very slammed, but only 2" into the shock travel. The range of movement is quite low anyway due to the fully compressed spring coil at the front.

In other words, don't worry.

Default "after all thats why you're buying an expensive coilover system"

That may be why YOU'RE buying, but that's not what coilover systems are supposed to do. They are designed to enable you to tune and corner balance the system.

Perhaps H&R has other spring rates that can be paired with the coilovers you have, call them.

Default Apparently you didn't do your homework before putting out 1.4K! Didn't compare spring rates,...

and you are comparing your shock length to Audi 4.2 Sport suspension, not stock 4.2. Sounds to me like your pants are looking for a highly over damped system, not stiffer springs.
