Down to about 200 miles per full tank. . .what is going on???
2000 2.7T. . .timing service done, O2 sensors changed, no CEL. No engine mods.
Normal city/highway driving.
The only thing that appears abnormal is that the trip computer fuel readout is extremely (and I mean extremely) eratic. It keeps changing from 8mpg, to 35, to 12, to ---, to 45, to 75mpg, to ---, to 16mpg, to ---, to 57mpg, etc. all in a matter of two or three seconds. Continously as I drive.
It never did this before!! Of course it would change according to my driving habit, and how much effort was being put on the engine, like when coasting it would be high, when flooring it then it would be low. . .but would adjust predictably, not jump around all over the place.
What could be causing this? What is the trip computer fuel guage hooked up to, for it to get such an eratic readout?
Any help would be appreciated it, since I am getting a full tank every few days now at $60 each time!!!!
I'm assuming you've calculated actual fuel economy and not relying on the trip computer?
If O2 sensors are new, then could be a plugged cat or something going on...or, you could have a faulty fuel tank level sending unit.
how can i diagnose plugged cat or faulty fuel tank sending unit?
