Since I live in Seattle and drive to Portland a fair amount, I'm looking for an excellent rain tire. The reviews on TireRack's site give this Conti very good reviews, even better than the Pilot a/s at twice the price.
Understanding that reviews are suspect at best, I thought that I might field some comments from here.

It depends what you're looking for.
The Pilot Sport A/S is a great summer and rain tire, hardly compromised on noise, handling, and grip relative to summer tires, but with only OK snow performance.
The ExtremeContact is a better snow tire but more compromised in ride quality, noise, and general handling.

I've had both of those on my car at one time or another, and prefer the Pirelli PZero Nero M/S...
...overall.
The Pilot Sports have marginally better dry grip, but are noisier and worse in the rain.
The Contis might do better in the snow, but give up a lot in handling precision, noise and ride quality to the Pirellis.
All IMO, of course.

I like the contis a *lot* - an excellent dry tire that holds up in rain and light snow
Even wear.
Good grip and steering feel.
255/40-W17 on my S6 avant.
Never had the Neros. Michelin makes some good tires, btu charges for them. Others are mediocre. I cant say.
