Weird power drivers seat issue (long)
I was locking my car today and noticed that my windows wouldn't work and sunroof wouldnt close. Then noticed that my drivers seat would only go back and forth but not up and down and the back wouldn't move. I looked at fuses and number 14 was blown. Replaced i but it still blew out right away. When i wasn't on the seat it moved perfect. Vag-Com is giving codes of a drivers seat sensor ground issue and low voltage. I also noticed the interior lights only work when i push the seat buttom up and down as long as i'm not sitting in the seat which also let me put the windows up. I assume there is a short in the seat wiring which is grounding the lighting system and blowing the fuse. Has anyone experienced this before or direct me on what to look for. Also vag com sent a code saying it turned of the central locking to, probably because of the short. HELP!!!

Yes, you have a short in the seat.
Most common cause is the lumbar support mechanism chafing the wiring to the rear footwell light. You can disconnect the connector under the seat to the rear footwell light, may stop the fuse blowing.

Re: I don't know. Disconnect it, if the footwell light stops working , there's your answer.
It stopped my seat from going backwards and the seat back from going back and forth.. gonna be fun

UPDATE:top 2 wire connector is for the rear footwell light.
Thats the problem... seat functions all work for now.. found one connector not all the way back in! Is it hard to find that wire and where it split?

Well, it pains me to suggest this.. but I know one person just permanently unplugged the light.
I mean it's not as if the rear footwell light is essential, is it?
Alternatively, it took me 4 dealer visits, a lumbar mechanism, and $1000 to fix mine. Wish I had just unplugged the light.

Might make a new wire connection from the harness i unplugged to the light.. a little OCD and I hate when things aren't working
