Anyone notice the pics of new Audi Engines are missing the oil dipstick? That is all we need now
another electronic piece to attempt to tell us the oil level in the car. I have heard BMW is having a hell of a time with their new system as they have had a number of issues with oil running out and the sensors never let on to a problem. I hear to check the level, you are supposed to drain the oil and weigh it to see if there is enough. GET STUFFED!!!
Audi's reputation with electronic gauges and sensors telling us what is going is is not the best. Fuel levels, coolant temp levels ring a bell anyone? The only one that seems to work consistantly is the Washer Fluid sensor. LOL
Maybe the pics are just for show, but I have a feeling this is the way of things to come.

If they truly eliminate the "manual" dipstick and make it a sensor, the warranty claims will make
the 1.8T sludge issue seem cheap by comparison. Weigh and/or measure the old oil? How will you be able to prove the sensor never went off if you run the engine out of oil? This sounds like an impending disaster. I heard BMW were going to this and thought "Oh no, sounds like trouble". Technology for technology's sake...

the "Technology for technology's sake" should be Japanese, not German! Lexus parking system..
is the biggest gimmick in cars that I think has only been one-upped by Volvo with the intruder heart beat monitor. What a joke.
I understand that VW is putting an automatic parking system in now that will do the same thing on the Tiguan.
Wasn't it just Audi who did the great commercial with the A4 parking between the two Lexi and mocking this very technology?
I think I am ready to go back carburators and manual windows and seats!

Porsche has had this for years. Until 2004, both. After, jkust electronic.
I hate the loss, but its really quite convenient - I effectively check my oil every time I start the car - it gives a nice bar graph readout.
Also, Audis have nto had auto tranny dipsticks since, i dont know, 1992? My C4 is without. But audi gave no dashboard check, either.
