Tire fitment on '03 Avant

I can get my hands on a set of 255/45 R17 Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires at a good price. I know they are larger than the 235/45 R17 that are recommended for the car, but can I squeeze these under it without rubbing? I have the BBS 17X8 wheels, don't remember the offset but pretty sure it's standard.

A good price doesn't make a good deal. Those tires are huge. Buy the right size.

Either "no" or "very tight". Plus, wide snow tires are inferior for their job

245/45-17 works. 255 is going to be ~4.5% larger rolling circumference, and will likely rub (btu I have nto tried, nor will I).

For winter I run 225/55-16 (yes, +2.8%).

Or, if the deals good enough, you can take a chance - and maybe lose.
