Leaving for work, I put the car in 1st gear , go a short distance and let off the gas...the car

engine stuttered/stalled a bit when i got off the gas pedal..... 2nd gear did a little....but once I got to 3rd , etc it was fine.... later in the ride, after getting of the highway, it was fine in 1st and 2nd.... is this a clutch going bad ?

Sounds more like a boost leak or something. The clutch should not make the engine shutter.

Or a problem with the BPV's.

How do I test a BPV to see if this is my problem? tx

not clutch, its a boost or mixtue issue - cant say more

First eyeball the TBB to check for rips or tears (sometimes underneath) and the DV's too.

I have not personally checked with any tools before, but I think that is the usual suspect for a boost leak (assuming no other issues, check engine light, etc).
