Quick question concerning my '00 4.2..

That's what I was trying to figure out. IPT lists two different trans upgrade kits..
one for the HP24FL trans, and one for the HP24FLA trans. Maybe I can give them a call... BTW.. Glad to see that you're staying with us

The Audi tranny is known as a 5HP-24 to most of us. Then there are specific build codes. Thus my early 2000 4.2 has an ECF tranny, as it has an ART motor. That code is shown on the build sticker in the spare tire well or maintenance handbook. Sometimes the code is diffeent for a revision. It is always different if there is a gearing change, like there is with S6's, D2 A8's and S8's.
ZF knows the tranny as a 5HP-24A, the "A" standing for AWD. There are plain 5HP24's used in Jaguar's and V8 BMW's. Climb under your 4.2 if you want and look at the ZF build plate on the side of the tranny if you want more of their obscure parts # stuff.

Upgrade/rebuild kit. All the parts you need to upgrade clutch packs, etc.
And there may not be two different A6 4.2 transmissions. Don't forget, the A8 also uses the HP24. So one kit may be for the A8's trans, and one may be for the A6 4.2's trans.
