Says i need to order two keys to reprogram. Is there any way to get SKC to order them off e bay or at least any better alternative at all. I tried to search the forum for previous questions but no luck for questions with no keys at all. Any help is greatly appreciated

Default Search the archives..I bought a blank key from someone here for $38.00, dealer charged $67 to cut

and prog new key.
You will have to give teh person, once you find him, your VIN so maybe he can search for the correct FCC codes and Key ID. Your car ispre mobilizer so it will be cheaper and earier to get a used key.
I am at work, I will go home and search my emails.
DO NOT pay $525 for 2 keys
good luck

Unfortunately, I think the cars post-00 have a chip in there which needs to be programmed at the dealer.

Otherwise, you can get a blank on Ebay and bring it to a locksmith who has laser key cutting machine. They charge about $30 to $40 because those machines costs $15,000. They will ask you for your key code. If you don't have it, it's okay as they can scan your key and obtain it (they shouldn't charge you for that).

Good luck.

Default Yeah! resist that abuse. Get blank keys and have them cut them...

Last time i did this as i only had one key and wanted an extra. Manager gave me the scare saying that what i am doing can get me in trouble bla bla bla, but i told him i only have one and a spare makes sense also ive heard other dealers cut them free of charge. Later he said he would, but they stopped since some people would take replica HAA key blanks that would mess up their cutting machine costing 60 for a new blade. Eitherway he did the cut for me and it turned out mine was a replica "oops,"Thank you" and i took off with my blank. Insist and then just buy a fob(remote from fleabay) or i have one for 30.00 let me know.

Default Why, it is not Audi's fault he has just one key and has lost that? The ....

new keys will have a cost as will the time taken to re-programme them to work with the car and check they are fully functional.

Some insurance policies will pay for new locks and keys if you say it is possible they have fallen into the 'wrong' hands and are tracebale to your address.

Default Yup. You should never buy a car if it comes with only one key.

Mine only had one switchblade, but it came with the normal key and plastic "valet" key as well.

Default Years ago, you could get the SKC with the VIN, but the systems at the dealers were changed...

...and even the dealers NEVER see the SKC. If you ahve the Immobilizer, the keys MUST be ordered from the factory, the car MUST be hooked up to the machine at the dealer, takes about 10-15 minutes to do.

Key costs a pretty penny, plus the 1/2 hour labor that the dealer might charge for the hookup.

There is no other way around this. However, I will admit taht the price quoted by your dealership is a bit high. I think I paid a bit less than $200 for the key and the labor when I had to replace a key.
