Default Steering Angle Sensor

Can anybody out there direct me to the best solution for a steering angle caibration on my 2002 Audi A6 2.7T? I borrowed a VAG COM cable and version 311-2 of the program, however, I could not get the instructions from the VAG COM site to work. After I entered the 40168 LOGIN code listed on the page, I could not get the "Group 001" code to come up under Basic Settings (04). Does anyone have updated instructions or a way to get the correct codes? I am now located in Irvine, CA and was hoping I could find a small shop or VAG COM user who could help out. Thanks in advance.

Default What is the WSC (work shop code) for the VAG COM you are trying to use?

...the reason I ask is because the Bentley Manual indicates that the car will not allow you to login to do the calibration if the WSC is 00000. You can go to the setup of the VAG COM (I think settings) and change the WSC (but check with the cable's owner to make sure this is okay). Once the WSC is something other than 00000, you will be able to do the calibration.

Also, if you have a genuine VAG COM cable from Ross Tech, you should download the most current version (v.704) from their website.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/</a></li></ul>

Default Re: What is the WSC (work shop code) for the VAG COM you are trying to use?

Thanks for the reply - I was using 40168 as called out on the VAG COM site. I think that my my problem is that I need to be updated to 704 since 302 does not have the "Basic Settings" option available (per the site). At least I hope that's what it is....is there anybody out in the Irvine area who could run a quick cal. for me as a freebie?
I'd really appreciate it.

Default Don't confuse the coding for the module with the work shop code...

...the "40168" is a login code for the module, not the work shop code.

The work shop code (WSC) is a code on the cable that leaves a "signature" on the module when any modification or code clearing is done, so that any future scans will reveal what shop might have done previous work on that module. The VAG COM cable comes default as "00000" for a WSC, which is known as "ghost mode" so no signature is left behind.

You cannot login to the control module to do the steering angle sensore calibration if the WSC is "00000". Best bet is to do a scan of the other modules and record the WSC used by another shop, and go to the Options screen and click on the User Interface and Identification tab. You should see the WSC window on the left side of the screen. Change that to something other than "00000" and save the settings.

Then, follow the steps on the VAG COM page and use the "40168" to login to the module to calibrate the steering angle sensor.
