Fark...started car this AM
and the power steering pump was screeming at me. Quick inspection of the reservior revealed it was low. I added fluid and after a few minutes it quieted down.
I've been driving the car all week without a hint of the steering pump noise. Biggest concern is where did the fluid go? I've had some oil on the floor and hadn't had time to investigate (just some drips). I just assumed it was leaking from my new oil cooler connections (that I've verified) and not the power steering pump.
Two questions:
1) Are there any common leaks I should look for?
2) Has anyone experience a sudden failure of the pump?

*raises hand* , same problem....1 week later... steering rack blew...1400-2000$ out the door.
make sure every day you have the same amount of fluid if you refill. took 5 days of 'quiet' no squeel steering to burst for me...

Are you kidding? I was so depressed I drove out to HPT and
instructed at their Touring Club school on Wednesday night! I was desperate for a fix!
Car is running well but tired...I need to rebuild the front brakes and pick up new rotors, tires are just about done. I pulled them off last night and decided if I had gone to RA, they most likely would not have made it through the two days. Amazing how much shorter their lifespan has been lately :-)
