I'm stuck, thoughts?
Although I can guess what the responses will be here, its new car time and I have two choices:
An 05 S4 or a brand new g35x. Driven them both, and its pretty obvious which is the immature vs mature decision. I hate growing up.
the g35 -- the things have tooo many toys. 20gb hard drive for the mp3's built in. keyless go, push button start. blue tooth. voice activated everything. it's crazy.
and it may be a little too grown up for this kid. I giggled on the S4 test drive. I did not with the g35. But it is the smarter choice. brand new, mid range gas, cheaper oil changes, Japanesey reliability. and its certainly not slow. but its got chrome. ugh i'm stuck.
I did drive the G35 and enjoyed it, but it was not an S4. The Acura and the FX were our first Japanese cars, and have been good... but not the same feel. Although the FX can out handle and feels like outbrake my A6, it just doesn't have the same overall feel. If you like the the overall feel of the A6 now, go with the S4. If you want brand new and more reliable, go for the G. And yes... the toys are cool... bluetooth, keyless, rear view camera, etc... and the Bose at least in the FX is AMAZING compared to my A6.
Before long you will see it tied to auto start either in hybrid or non-hybrid form to save gas idling. Bosch has the system now. About to pop up in Mini in Europe. The guts of keyless start are a necessary to get there, just as basic ABS sensoring led to a bunch more stuff (ESP, EDL, etc.) w/ a few more computer boxes and sensors.
I'd say get the S4, the G35 is nice, but it's not as much fun, you have immediate depreciation, and alot of the reliability and crash data on it are less than stellar (plus I don't really like the interior too much.)
