Can someone tell me what these are.....

What are the functions? I believe they have something to do with cold start up? Would these cause any of the issues I have been having during normal operating temperature? Slight ping and surging only when motor is warm...does not happen when motor is cold. TIA.
Oh BTW how tough to replace knock sensors on 4.2?

Not sure but they look like a control valve to balance a pressure differential.....
such as when the aux air pump is running?
On the knock sensors, they virtually never fail so I would say they are unlikely to be your hot running problem, more likely the wrong plugs or the mixture is too lean. O2 sensors or MAF?
