Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans
I didnt even take the spare CD changer, or the A6 rubber matts out. Sold it as I built it, on consignment through a friends dealer.
At the time I had mixed feelings. It was a money pit as it was out of warranty, modded (to a degree that meant maintaining it), and (especially these days) had horrible gas milage, plus it was a ticket magnet due to the tint, no front plates and ability to sound like it was drag racing, even at 30 Mph.... making every cop, look twice, every time.
So, as my friends put it "It was time to sell her"...
Around that time my brother picked up a C6 A6 and had a new 07 TT as a loaner till the A6 was ready. He let me use it for the weekend and I was sold on the 1000 lbs lighetr, half the engine, newly styled TT. Plus all of the reviews were favorable....Hell, even the Off Topic forum approved!
Trucked it in a Toyota Tundra pick-up from Nov-April with the plan on getting an 08 TT in June (in time for a wedding) but between my impatience, the weather and getting tired of going on dates in a pick-up truck, and the fact a friend and Audi dealer had a rate that was agreeable, on April 1st I took delivery of a new 08 TT.
I'm still getting to know the vehicle, after only 2 months and 1500 miles on the ODO but I can tell you this. It is definitely a city car, where the 4.2 was ahighway monster.
All maintenence and cash aside though, I miss the 4.2 exhaust note (with a RS 6 exhaust that is), but I dont miss anything else. Dont need the space, its just me. Don't mind telling my boys "Sorry, passenger seat only fits a woman" and well, I'm enjoying everything from the looks I get, to the so much updated interior...
This is not a knock against my former car but having a newer Audi really made my old car look and feel dated.
I used to say it was timeless, but no longer get that same feeling when I see old A6's on the road.
But, there are certain times where I do miss the Uber Muscle Car I created, and realize this little car I'm in now will never have the soul of a 4.2.
Cheers.
The 4.2 sound is very unique in many ways...but I like the new TT's alot! Love the headlights they look great!
I personally had my eye on the new S5's...most likely will consider one in a couple years...
I am shocked that you got OT approval on anything! lol! jk
I'm glad you are happy with your decision, great choice in my opinion.
