Default $5 - $6 avg for Gas... topping at $12 - $15????
Did anyone watch the Today Show? Those numbers stood out when they talked about gas prices and how much it's likely going to go up to.


I just paid $70 to fill up about 17 gals the other day at Costco.

I can't imagine paying over $200 each time to fill up.

Default $12-no. $5+, mostly likely by late summer. About low car residusal values......
Somebody wrote, a couple days back, about how cheap these pre-owed A6s have become, and how poorly they hold residual value. I think it is going to get a lot worse. Aside from the VW/Audi low reliability reputation for aged vehicles (6 yrs+), these are thisty cars. In real world driving conditions, they average 19 mpgs or so. And my heavier Avant, with a/c running peak during mid-July, mpg drops down dramatically to 16 mpg. These cars are becoming expensive to operate for daily driving.
That's going to make a lot of would-be preowned car buyers look elsewhere, and make our trade-in values not much to brag about.

Default This whole expensive gas thing has me seriously considering buying a bike.
A Yamaha R6 gets way better gas mileage than a GTI VR6...and its a lot faster too!

that few thou you spend on a bike would buy a lot of gas for your GTI..

Default Yeah, and the fact that I don't have a motorcycle license isn't helping either.
But if I bought a used one with some miles on it, it could offset the money I spend on gas.
