Default Sunroof issues please Help!!!

I seached and no one seems to have the symptoms I have. My sunroof was open and I went to close it and it wouldn't go.

So I turn the dial. First nothing happens then it moves to about half way and stops. I twist the dial in different spots and notice its now trying to go to the open possition but only about a quarter of an inch and stops. Then it basically stopped doing that.

I thought it was a bad sunroof dial or something but then I used my remote unlocking then locking again holding it down to see if it would close. Same thing about 1/4 inch and then nothing. Unlock then lock it moves about 1/4 inch. But then it gets to a point where it doesn't want to do anything and when it does move it opens and never goes back past half way closed.

I just used the crank and kept it closed.

First thing I looked at was the rails and the wind guard thing and they "seemed" OK.

Mine did that. After I manually closed it with the crank, it was fine.

Default Is it coincidence that the German for Sick is Crank ?

OK, it's actually Krank with a K, but that would spoil my subject line :-P

What's this Crank you guys speak of ? If mine ever does that, I'll no doubt remember that I should use the Crank, but I have no idea where I'd find it and what it looks like.

Default its on your the backside of the plastic piece that covers ur fuses. Its small. then you have to

pull your interior light cover off then put a thin flathead between the light housing and the light housing frame. That pops out and there is the motor and hole for crank <---- sounds dirty.

Default Thanks :-) ... what type of crank would I put in it?

I'd prefer to not have to go out and remove said plastic pieces to look, but if I have to ...

I now know where the crank position is, but I expect to have to stick something in the hole (like a screwdriver or an allen-head key or something).

Default Its on the backside of the panel that covers your fuses. As stated above.

when you open your car door the fuse pannel is right there. Its where the car door and the side of your dash come together when you close your door.

Worst case, you can always buy a CF moonroof-delete kit (like the B5 S4 guys : )
