Rattling when turning right at highway speed
Hi,
I just went on a 1hr road trip yesterday and on the return journey, noticed a rattling sound and vibration when turning right. It seemed to be less when going straight or turning left.
This doesn't happen at lower speeds, but above 55-60mph.
Any ideas of what to check? I'll get the car jacked up tomorrow to try and move the wheels a bit to check the bearings, tie-rods, ball-joints. I just had all these changed about a year ago, so hope it's not that fun/expense again.
I've never worked on an audi, but know my way around the porsche suspensions, which are way different setups. (for one, I can see the suspension components, here everything seems to be hidden behind sheet metal.)
I've heard there are some 10mm 12pt bolts underhood under the battery that might be problematic.

You had the issue with the 2000 A6...
Did you check your 04 after finding the problem with your 00? Reason I ask is I've got an 04, and was wondering if the rack is the same - or if there have been any reports of a 2002-2004 with the issue.

Only make left turns - could be worn brake pads loose in the cals>
i've chased problems like these before ...only to never find them ...and then to have them disappear months later when i finally do a brake job
