Anyone got pics of oval tips they put on their 2.7T ?
I want to get some oval tips to put on my 2.7T, but they all seem to be chromed and I want just
matt black. I wondered if anyone had put matt black ones on. If not, anyone got pics of their
chrome ones anyway? I've mocked up roughly the size/shape/effect I'm hoping to achieve in the
second picture below. The first picture being the standard tips.

With the price of aftermarket exhausts, I'm always of the opinion that a trusted muffler shop could cook up something just as nice at a better price.
Anyway, it was either a GMC Envoy or a Trailblazer SS that passed me up a few weeks ago. It had a very nice oval and tapered exhaust tip that would probably be perfect. Very similar to the RS6 tip.
I'm sure it's in the archives, but, as for colors, how does powder coating hold up to the exhaust heat? Other options might be anodizing (only for aluminum, I think?) or chemical etching? I wonder how the matte finish is done by the OEM for the RS6?

Oh you bet a full RS6 exhaust would be fun, it's not in the budget I set for this mod though
There are certain things I'm willing to pay a lot for, the cosmeticness of having oval tails isn't one of them though. I'm expecting to bring this one in under $100, but I'll stretch it a bit, maybe even head towards $200.
Oh, and AKB was right, I don't want to mod my valance (ok, maybe I'll allow the odd millimetre or two to be shaved off, but nothing major).

Armed with those two photos I put in the top post, I'll see if anyone can get close to it.

Here ya go... I painted the inside ends matte black, I like them mucho...

Can't remember part number, but they are the only double walled ovals.

I have oval tips - black stainless is what the mfg calls them.
