New Audi owner with question about warranty
Since I bought the car there were a few issues. While driving the car home from purchase pickup, the check engine light came on and the car began losing power. I thought perhaps it was a coilpack issue, having owned 3 other Audis in the past including two A4s and a TT, I'm familiar with Audi's longstanding issues with coilpacks.
The car has 41K miles and is still under full warranty and also free maintenance until 4yrs/50K. I took the car into the dealership and they told me the CEL/power loss was caused by fault crank sensors which were replaced under warranty. They also performed the 45K scheduled maintenance under warranty as well.
They put a note that the tires and rear brakes needed replacing. They gave me a large quote for the brakes which I declined, intending to give the job to my trusted independent mechanic. There was also a crack in the side of the front driver's side door panel which they refused to replace citing that the item is not covered under warranty.
I read some of the posts here while doing a search for brake pads and saw that in fact the 2005s warranty should cover even wear items such as brake pads at no extra charge? Can someone clarify this as absolutely correct? If so, then this dealer must be simply taking me for a ride as it is one of the larger ones and I cannot imagine they simply "did not know" about these warranty limitations.
Also I have owned numerous cars in the past under the factory warranty and I have never been refused replacement for broken interior panels in the past.
