remote question

A friend sold his a6 years ago and just found the key. Is there a way I can use his remote with my car? They were both 99 a6's.

It should work - search for the remote recode procedure and give it a go.

I don't have the procedure linked anymore. I had read that the FCC Id needs to be the same (can be seen when the key is split), but I ordered a new key from Audi and it had a diff FCC Id then my original but it works fine. If it is from the same year, it shouldn't be a problem.
