How much for a Timing belt for a 3.0?

My dads car is in need of a timing belt soon. The dealer quoted $1690 after taxes(waterpump and something else included). Our Indie quoted $14-1500...I assume before taxes. He said the 3.0 is a pain compared to the 2.8 and 2.7T? There is like an extra 4-5hrs work needed to get it done. So...Is this the going rate? No $900 specials for a 3.0?

That's about what we charge (dealer), valve covers have to come off & $$$ tools.

Yeah thats right, the valve covers......Thanks, he's gonna just have the dealer do it.

paid about $1180 on my 2.8, but i didn't do seals

I find the 2.8 to be $800-1000 and the 3.0 to be 40-50% MORE, STFA

indie prices.
Wait 'til you see the costs for a 4.2
