Need some pointers installing AFTERMARKET NAV in '01 A6 2.7t
I've got a Pioneer AVIC-F90BT double din going into a 2001 A6 2.7t (6 speed)
I need some help with...
1) Anyone know where to find the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) for this car and easiest place to tap in.
2) Where's the easiest place to tap in to the reverse signal besides running all the way to the taillights?
3) I've seen plenty of write-ups where they're using the factory grommet near the battery for running power cable. I've seen most people use 4 gauge. Anyone know if 2 gauge would fit, and if I would run into any problems down the door jambs with 2 gauge?
4) HOW THE @#*$ do I stuff all the wires in the back of the deck and still put the deck back in??? Any tricks?
Thanks a million
The Mummy.
2)Reverse can be gotten by tapping off the switch from your shifter. there is a harness in the tunnel going forward to the dash.
3)2ga. is fine through the fire wall, but why are you bringing it into the door jambs??
4)Depending on the depth of the headunit, and how much wiring there is, you may have to space out the headunit in the dash kit. Some tricks are to reach in from the drivers side under the dash and pull the wires to the left as you are inserting the radio.

I don't specifically have to run through the jambs, I was mostly seeing what has been done. If there's a more direct route from the factory hole in the firewall, do tell. Do you just hug the transmission tunnel all the way back?
I've put stereos in before but never in this car.
I'm also doing everything 15 minutes at a time since I work 70 hours a week, so I figured I'd run cable even though I'm not sure how much I'll end up upgrading.
Thanks
I ran my RCA's striaght down the middle, through the console, and out back under the carpet. Speaker wires went down the passenger side.
I'll add this to the invoice
